Under minimal supervision from the Office of Emergency Management Director at the UCLA Office of Environment, Health & Safety, serve as the division subject matter expert and lead projects of critical importance to the organization. The incumbent will serve as the liaison with UCLA campus departments to develop and revise comprehensive Departmental Emergency Response Plans and preparedness initiatives; develop campus exercise and training initiatives; respond to and provide administrative support to emergencies; and ensure readiness of the campus emergency response.

Required/Preferred

Ability and willingness to respond to campus during work hours and non-work hours for events and major emergencies (earthquake, fire, hazardous material spills, etc.).

Required

Expert knowledge of the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) with demonstrated ability of teaching concepts to campus leadership, and support departments and Emergency Operations staff.

Required

Expert knowledge, technical skills, and experience in emergency response as evidenced by a college degree(s), minimum 5 years documented experience, licenses, and professional certifications.

Required

Expert knowledge of the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) with demonstrated ability of teaching concepts to campus, leadership, support departments and the Emergency Operations staff.

Required

Demonstrated ability to teach SEMS to senior managers and others.

Required

Ability and willingness to respond to campus during work hours and non-work hours for events and major emergencies (earthquake, fire, hazardous material spills, etc.).

Required

Ability to work effectively in "crisis" situations and maintain positive and effective demeanor. Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.

Required

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, department and university personnel, and public agencies.

Required

Demonstrated strong public speaking, presentation and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to use presentation equipment (slides, videos, computers) in teaching emergency management concepts to the campus community.

Required

Strong writing skills to produce Emergency Plans, senior management level executive reports, campus-wide programs and procedures, and general correspondence.

Required

Experience in developing and facilitating emergency management trainings and exercises.

Required

Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations procedures etc. to define the problem, identify relevant issues, and generate reasonable and appropriate alternatives or solutions.

Required

Demonstrated skill in programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Visio, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat in a network environment.

Required

Possession of a valid California Driver's License and the ability to drive a truck or other light vehicle.

Required

Experience working in University setting.

Required

Demonstrated experience or past certification in Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP). Past experience in developing tabletop, functional, and full0scale exercises, working on an exercise design team, and past experience in developing After-Action and/or Corrective Action reports.

Required

Completion or certification from FEMA/EMI in the Master Exercise Practitioner Program (MEPP).

Required

Possession of a current Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credential issued by the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM).
