The Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen, is hiring student ambassadors for the MSc Study Start with accession on 1st of September 2023 until 30th of June 2024.
About us
DIKU is the first Department of Computer Science in Denmark, established by Peter Naur in 1970. Since then, our researchers and graduates have formed the basis for society’s accelerating technological transformation, and our research environment and results have made us one of Europe’s leading and most attractive computer science departments. We currently take in approx. 150 new MSc students per year and each year our student ambassadors receive the new students and plan various activities throughout the year to create a welcoming and inspiring academic environment for the new students.
Your tasks
As our student ambassador, you will be the first point of contact between the new MSc students and the academic and social environment at DIKU. You will welcome the students to the department and plan interesting and engaging social activities throughout the first study year. You will also become the natural link between the first- and second-year master’s degree students, creating a more cohesive and coherent student environment.
Your tasks include:
A fun and challenging working environment, in which you will get the highest level of autonomy to carry out your own ideas of what makes a successful and thriving student environment. You get to collaborate in a team with other passionate students like yourself, and make a real difference in the new students’ lives, just as someone did for you when you started your academic journey with our department.
Salary and employment conditions
The employment and salary is made in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the National Union for Student Workers (SUL)/the Union of Danish Medical Students (FADL) for student teachers at the Danish universities and the annexed protocol.
The weekly working time will vary according to planned activities, but the position has a maximum of 50 hours. The salary is 207,88. DKR (April 2023-level).

- Receiving the new MSc students on the Welcome Day at the Department of Computer Science, taking place on Friday 1st of September 2023 from 8am to 4pm.
- Plan and carry out the yearly Cabin Trip, taking place from Friday 24th of November to Sunday 26th of November 2023.
- Plan one or more social activities free of choice, such as a MSc dinner or Sports Day and carry out the planned activities.
- Inform the new MSc students about important academic and social environments and events, including but not limited to Spot Events, student clubs and association, DIKU Galla, DIKU Revy, Christmas celebrations, etc
. - Inform the new students about our Code of Conduct and the principles of Inclusive DIKU.
- Soon to be 2nd year MSc students at the Department of Computer Science, who are passionate about creating a thriving student environment, which includes safe and inspiring spaces for International and Danish students alike.
- It is not a requirement to have previous experience within this field; however, volunteer or paid work in the areas of study start, study environment and/or social student environments are regarded as strong attributes for your candidacy.
- We welcome everyone to apply and show what they have to offer, regardless of that being for example well-developed social skills or a creative and imaginative mindset.
