In House Intellectual Property Counsel

We are seeking a registered patent attorney with at least three years of experience in Patent Prosecution to join the Intellectual Property Group in Delaware. In this role the IP Attorney will interact and support several of our R&D and Technology Licensing teams located across the globe. One exciting area of research this attorney will support includes ! work in synthetic biology to provide sustainable solutions for the manufacturing of bulk chemicals.

Candidates should have a strong technical expertise (graduate degree or substantial industry experience). The ideal candidate will possess a technical background experience in and have completed an advanced degree in biomedical engineering, biochemical engineering, organic chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering, although other technical backgrounds will be considered.

Excellent professional credentials are required, including demonstrated skills in writing, attention to detail and excellent client relations. The successful candidate will work closely with lawyers and executives across various countries, and regions to protect technology, ensure compliance, prepare contracts, limit litigation and keep abreast of relevant legal developments. Responsibilities of this position will include independently managing a broad array of complex projects, includ! ing: patent preparation and prosecution; commercial and academic licens! es and collaborations; corporate contract involvement; advising R&D and upper management pertaining to patentability, infringement, and freedom to operate issues; and strategic IP portfolio management.

Job Requirements:
JD degree with 3+ years patent prosecution and licensing experience

Advanced degree in Chemistry/Organic Chemistry discipline

Previous Scientific or Clinical work experience

Patent application and technical writing experience

Registered Patent Attorney with the US Patent and Trademark Office
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Preferred Experience:
Prior experience in: research, IP litigation; trademark; marketing, mergers and acquisitions, and/or due diligence is a plus

In-house experience

Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
