The ACE USA Employersâ Liability Claims Director will oversee civil claims made against the Employersâ Liability section (Part Two) of Workersâ Compensation policies written by ACE group insurers. Thi! s Director will have direct responsibility to resolve coverage aspects of individual claims and will typically oversee the work of claim administrators for liability, damages, and recovery aspects of individual claims. This position will report to management within the ACE USA Claims Workersâ Compensation Claims Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Investigate and analyze coverage aspects of individual employersâ liability claims
·
Prepare reservation of rights or other coverage position documents with assistance from coverage counsel
·
Effectively communicate coverage positions to brokers, risk managers, policyholders, and defense counsel
·
Conduct, coordinate, and direct investigation as necessary to develop liability, damages, and recovery aspects of individual claims
·
Effectively oversee the work of claim administrators in resolution of indi! vidual claims
·
Effectively communicate and! coordinate with those handling and overseeing the statutory workersâ compensation aspects of individual claims
·
Prepare high-value claim reports as needed
·
Authorize reserves or make reserve recommendations as needed
·
Authorize payments or make payment recommendations as needed
·
Enforce use of the proper ACE USA defense attorney panel or insured-selected counsel processes
·
Participate in audits of claims files and external audits of law firms, third party administrators, managing general agents, etc.
·
Maintain claim file quality, execute claims best practices, and ensure claims regulatory compliance, operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant environment

Travel to attend conferences, trials, mediations, audits, etc., as necessary
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
·
Minimum of seven years commerci! al property & casualty claims experience, including significant experience resolving coverage issues and managing litigated claims
·
Statutory workersâ compensation claims experience preferred
·
High-exposure claim experience preferred
·
Completed insurance industry-designation courses preferred
·
Proven leadership skills
·
Strong verbal and written communication skills
·
Four-year college degree required, law degree a plus
