Location: Dover and Rehoboth Beach, DE

Summary:
Provides loss prevention services and support that limit t! he loss of Company assets by external and internal factors. Communicates and interprets loss prevention policies and procedures for retail, distribution, and/or corporate, minimizing the risk of civil liability that could result from inappropriate actions.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and/or conducts investigations into potential internal and external causes for loss while maintaining Delhaize America core values.
  • Identify and report external loss and fraud trends to management.
  • Understands, manages and utilizes loss prevention tools, technology, and financial reports in investigations.
  • Documents, collects, and maintains investigative files and evidence.
  • Collaborates with supervisor, operations, associate relations, legal, and other internal business partners on Loss Prevention and Risk Management issues, and recommends appropriate courses of action.
  • Identifies and reports fraudulent activity, trends, and ! incidents which create loss or risk of loss to Delhaize Americ! a.
  • Makes generalized assessments and implements proactive measures to reduce or eliminate loss.
  • Acts as a liaison between the company and law enforcement agencies and attorneys general on loss prevention matters.
  • Actively participates and coordinates department’s efforts to develop loss prevention awareness training material and programs that limit risk and keeps associates safe.
  • Coordinates installation of physical security systems or programs, as assigned.
  • Fields a variety of calls relating to Loss Prevention and Risk Management issues requiring evaluation and interpretation of company policy, in order to provide appropriate guidance to retail and corporate management.
  • Acts as an on-call resource for Loss Prevention issues at corporate locations and, as needed, retail and distribution.
  • Works with internal and external business partners to provide protection for all assets, while meeting the needs of associat! es and customer during critical incidents, natural disasters, pandemic events or other incidents that may impede the operation of our stores, distribution centers and customer support centers:
oExecutes critical incident plans, as assigned.
oProvides an assessment of the critical incident to the Division Manager, Central Station and/or Crisis Management Leader.
oProvides and /or coordinates 24 hour coverage of emergency services as needed.

Requirements

Basic Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of five years combined Retail, Distribution and Loss Prevention experience.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and the laws governing security practices.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Loss Prevention issues, including but not limited to investigations, fraud and theft.
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete the Wickland-Zulawski I! nterview Certification program within six months of hiring.
  • Po! ssess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in Accounting/Business/Criminal Justice or equivalent discipline
  • Wickland-Zulawski Interview Certification
Skills & Abilities:
  • Communication skills that foster best in class working relationships within the organization.
  • Excellent investigative and organizational skills and the ability to handle confidential issues in a professional manner.
  • Able to drive long distances to support retail stores needs as required in emergency and non-emergency capacity. Travel compromises approximately 80% of their work time.
  • Able to stand, bend and sit for long periods of time as part of routine and special investigations needs change. Since travel is a major requirement of position sitting and or standing compromises approximately 80% of their work time.
  • Able to use computer keyboards! and CCTV equipment as needed. This requires dexterity in the hands when operating a joystick and or control function of our CCTV system.
  • Must have visual clarity since work compromises review of videos and reports.
  • Must have hearing clarity as work involves listening skills.
  • Able to physically respond quickly to stores during emergencies such as robberies, burglaries or other major event.
