Full-time position available with the General Services Department, Finance Division located at 414 E. 12th St.
Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Hybrid telework schedule available after 6 month probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts and supervises daily activities of unusually complex systems (M-5, FuelMaster) to ensure compliance with fiscal principles, city policies, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Generates internal department reports and submits financial data to the City Controller's Office.
  • Provides moderate technical assistance for interpretation of policies and procedures, and corrective actions to ensure the most effective and efficient use of financial information.
  • Prepares, reviews, records, and analyzes information needed for financial projections, periodic reporting, and budgetary processes, and provides information to managers.
  • Prepares, processes, and checks benefits claims, vendor accounts, travel requests, and reconciliation documents.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of journal vouchers, credit card transactions, and other financial activities and documents.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and classifies capital and equipment transactions and conducts periodic inventories to provide accountability of the fixed assets.
  • Assists in year-end debt reporting and maintenance of required debt reserve funds.
  • Monitors all procurement processes for the division and ensures purchasing is done in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Prepares a request for supplies and services to obtain purchase orders.
  • Develops policies, procedures, and process improvements to assist with proper maintenance, benchmarking, and performance tracking activities.
  • Conducts comprehensive analysis of business processes, workflows, and systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Collects and analyzes data to evaluate business performance, identify trends, and provide insights for informed decision-making.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define business requirements, develop solutions, and support the implementation of new initiatives.
  • Prepares and presents reports, recommendations, and findings to senior management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


REQUIRES an accredited Master's degree in public or business administration, urban or regional planning, economics, accounting, finance or a related field; OR an accredited Bachelor's degree and 1 year of professional experience in public or business administration, corporate or municipal finance, budget, research, accounting or a related field. Preference given for intermediate/advanced experience in accounting (Account Reconciliation, AR/AP, Expenses), Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Subtotals, and analytical skills.

Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
