This position is remote which means the work can be completed from anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories.

Description

This position requires extensive knowledge of Customer Pick Up freight claims. Lead will be responsible for ensuring that evidence gathered by Claims Administrators is accurate and sufficient prior to filing claim against carrier and or vendor. Claim Lead is responsible for handling large dollar claims ranging from $5,000 to $180,000. Sr. Claims lead will determine culpability, freight salvage allowances, and negotiation of payment across carriers, vendors, and or divisions. Candidate must have strong analytical skills in order to identify trends and opportunities which will be presented to upper management. This role requires candidate to engage with various parties across US Foods as well as outside partners.

Responsibilities

Determines salvage allowance (10-15%) in order to help mitigate claim losses of carriers and ensure claim resolution on behalf of the division. Sr. Lead will be responsible for approving salvage allowances negotiated by Jr. Associates.

Oversee claims process for division and act as a main point of contact for training and guidance.

Responsible for the development of training documents which are distributed and utilized across all US Foods divisions.

Analyze documents submitted by divisions and determine appropriate method of investigation ensuring that fault is clearly established against correct party (carrier or vendor).

Has thorough working knowledge of Carmack Amendment and PACA in order to determine financial responsibility of freight claim on produce and non produce claims.

First point of escalation on freight claim related issues.

Assist Supervisor and manager with Jr. Associate annual reviews.

Modifies and implements claims process procedures in conjunction to supervisor and manager.

Work closely with Supervisor and Manager on claims which are disputed by carriers, vendors, or divisions in order to find resolution. Resolution can range from legal demands to placing carrier or carrier payments on hold.

Conduct extensive research and analysis to determine trends such as temperature abuse, shortages, damages etc., and alert internal stake holders such as Carrier Development, and or Category Managers of said issues in order to find root cause and resolution.

Responsible for maintaining a 95% collection rate for claims filed with carriers; overall collection rate is based on $3 M/annual claims filed against carriers.

Qualifications

Education/Training: High school diploma required . College degree preferred.

Related Experience: Minimum of 5 years logistics and transportation experience required . Prior claims experience required . Experience in a foodservice/distribution setting preferred .

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent customer service skills, ability to interact positively with a wide variety of employees at all levels. Demonstrated effective negotiating skills with ability to analyze and organize facts into useful knowledge. High degree of coordination, planning and organizational skills required . Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Exempt
The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In Colorado, the expected compensation for this role is between $62,300.00 and $74,000.00. In New York City, the expected compensation for this role is between $64,400.00 to $76,000.00. In California and Washington, the expected compensation for this role is between $63,400.00 and $75,000.00. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
