As a Senior Paralegal you will be responsible for assisting attorneys/legal staff relative to the operations of SLM Corporation, including Sallie Mae Bank. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (i) assisting with corporate secretary functions at Sallie Mae Bank; (ii) supporting company governance operations, including, subsidiary administration and maintenance; and (iii) assisting with federal securities law and bank regulatory matters. Applicant w! ill work closely with all levels of management within SLM Corp! oration and Sallie Mae Bank to provide a high level of professional legal support. Position will be based in Newark, Delaware.
Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree or successful Completion of Certified Legal Assistant examination and at least 6 years total progressive experience as a paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal department;
- Proficient in legal research, including the use of Lexis, Westlaw, CD-Rom services, Internet services and library materials, and factual research;
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles, legal terminology, and legal research techniques;
- In depth knowledge of public company governance considerations, including working knowledge of federal securities law and NASDAQ reporting and compliance matters; and
- Relevant computer knowledge and experience including word processing, spreadsheet, document management, electronic mail and database programs.
