This position is responsible for overseeing all U.S. and international tax planning, strategy, and compliance.
Job Responsibilities Develop and set up tax strategy and tax efficient structures with senior ! management and outside consultants with the objective of lowering future effective tax rate while minimizing impact on NOL. Coordinate with licensing partners, patent attorneys and tax consultants as necessary. Collaborate and build relationships with leaders in finance, management, and the business to effectively influence others on tax strategies, needs and to further tax department's image as a profit center throughout the organization. Develop and set up state tax strategy and local tax efficient structures. Responsible for setting corporate tax policy, maintaining all tax related accounts in the general ledger, and tax related financial reporting and disclosure in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. A key element for the success of this position is to communicate effectively with corporate executives and operations personnel. Responsible for completion of federal, international and state income tax returns including all related analysis and suppor! t. Responsible for managing any audits of federal and state in! come tax and state and local filings. Preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provision and supporting work papers. Prepare and/or coordinate completion of analysis of any limitations on the company's net operating losses under section 382 of the Internal Revenue Code. Engage in budgeting, forecasting and planning process for tax expense and effective tax rate. Responsible for accounting for income taxes, and related transactions. Ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for income taxes.
Minimum Requirements: CPA or graduate degree in taxation is required. J.D. or LL.M. is preferred Ten years of related experience with at least 5 years in a public accounting firm. Pharmaceutical experience is a plus, but not required The ideal candidate's extensive experience should include strategic design, implementation and management of domestic and international tax strategies. Must have Tax and Patent Tax strategy experience Strong problem s! olving skills and the ability to collaborate and influence tax strategy approvals at the executive level will be one of the critical qualities to succeed in this role Proven track record of leading complex strategic tax planning and decision making. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate complex tax matters. Experience leading, motivating, and developing professional Ability to operate in a dynamic organization and quickly build the trust and confidence of colleagues at all levels. Experience with ERP systems Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment International tax experience is required
