To fulfill the responsibilities of this position, the incumbent must possess an in-depth knowledge of the law and a demonstrated prof! iciency in investigating and managing multiple projects and resolving complex legal issues. He or she must demonstrate a solid understanding of the company's operations and the regulatory environment in which it functions. He or she usually possesses many years of relevant legal experience as a general practitioner, or significant experience in one or more complex fields of law. He or she must be recognized as reliable and knowledgeable in these areas by colleagues and management. He or she must be able to draw upon his or her substantive knowledge of the law, years of practice, and a thorough understanding of the company to answer questions and provide advice, often immediately.
- The incumbent works with all levels of management, regularly supporting its more senior levels on matters of a confidential or sensitive nature. He or she frequently handles complex problems which are of critical importance to the company, and often represents the company in negot! iation of important matters with private parties and counsel. ! He or she also independently identifies defense positions and legal strategies, and exercises sound judgment to promote the most cost efficient use of internal and external resources. He or she must also possess superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- The incumbent must be able to provide consultation and assistance to other attorneys in the department and mentoring to less experienced attorneys. He or she also must possess the confidence, skill and tact to challenge effectively and directly high level business proposals and longstanding company practices, and to offer solutions which achieve business objectives and minimize corporate exposure.
- The incumbent must be able to identify changes in common or statutory law or in government regulations or policy which could significantly affect the company, and then assume independent responsibility for advising management of such changes, as well as their potential business impact. He or she must also b! e able to anticipate problems and generate innovative and practical solutions. He or she must have the confidence of management regarding the quality and quantity of legal services provided.
- The incumbent must possess a Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited school of law and a license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or be admitted to practice in Pennsylvania at the earliest possible opportunity. He or she must possess substantial experience with the company or elsewhere, and exceptional substantive knowledge in relevant areas of the law.
Education/ Work Experience
Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from an accredited school of law
Licenses or Certifications:
- License to practice law in Delaware
