The Accident & Health (A&H) division of AIG provides insurance solutions that offer a diverse portfolio! of plans that help protect individuals while engaged in activities such as traveling or recreational activities. Specific niches include special risk insurance and student insurance solutions, among others. This role will support attorneys in the day to day operations and functions of the Law Department. This is a great opportunity to utilize your paralegal experience to join a fast growing and highly visible business within AIG.
Organizational Structure:
This role is part of a team of paralegals, supporting approximately 8 attorneys. The A&H division is a part of the Consumer segment of AIG Property Casualty. This position will directly report to the Associate General Counsel, who reports into the lead attorney for the A&H Law Department.
Performance Objectives:
- Provides assistance to attorneys in preparing, reviewing, and commenting on documents such as letters, templates, policy forms and regulatory filings.
- Revi! ews advertising and marketing materials and other collateral f! or compliance with applicable laws and regulations and company standards.
- Performs factual, investigative, and legal research utilizing online research tools and summarizes and reports the results of such research to attorneys, along with corresponding recommendations (if requested).
- Assists in gathering, organizing and compiling facts and information necessary to resolve day-to-day matters, including requests for information from external parties such as regulators, auditors or business groups supported by the Law Department. Under the direction of attorneys, as appropriate, responds directly to client inquiries from Underwriting, Operations & Systems, and Actuarial.
- As necessary, maintains, reviews, and retrieves Law department files and other documents, managing and maintaining databases and other organizational systems to ensure operational and organizational efficiency.
The Ideal Candidate Should H! ave:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Prior experience in insurance law strongly preferred. Background in and knowledge of property/casualty and/or accident & health insurance a plus.
- Ability to influence and work effectively and collegially with employees at all levels and within all functions/disciplines.
- Ability to meet or exceed deadlines, prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in fast-paced, changing, and matrixed environment.
- Ability to address conflict and difficult issues in a professional, assertive and proactive manner while remaining sensitive to business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) preferred.
