INVISTA is currently seeking a Commercial Paralegal to join its Engineering Polymers team located in Wilmington, DE.
The successful candidate will operate with a sense of urge! ncy and possess the ability to work under tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and accountability. This position is fulfilling to a candidate who thinks economically, critically, and strategically.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting, proofreading and redlining of contracts and other commercial documents in relation to company templates; manage document distributions and versioning.
- Assist with oversight and implementation of divisional sharepoint programs to manage/track commercial legal workload and projects.
- Assist with due diligence activities, including organization and preparation of summaries of due diligence materials and working with virtual data rooms.
- Review and summarize contracts and other legal documents.
- Review, organize and maintain commercial legal records.
- Work closely with EP business and support functions, including Finance, Procurement, Sales and Human Resources, and participate ! in cross-functional teams.
- Manage internet and intran! et document management systems to support commercial legal needs/projects.
- Filing of Information Disclosure Statements (IDS) with US PTO.
- Manage specialized prior art databases for use in preparing and submitting IDS forms and references.
- Complete all formal documents and forms with accuracy for various aspects of patent filings and prosecution, including the docketing of such.
- Assist with due diligence pertaining to patent matters (status, chain of title, third party and/or competitor patent portfolio reports, etc.).
- Assist in preparing analytical data charts and presentations related to patent searches utilizing internet based program tools.
- Provide paralegal backup for all patent support positions as needed.
- Draft internal communications to attorneys related to IDS filings, as well as direct communication with clients related to prior art reference requests.
- Process and monitor prior art references.
- 5+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal secretary
- 3+ years of Commercial legal or Intellectual Property experience
- Experience drafting, proofing, and redlining of contracts and documents
- Previous experience with document management systems
- Associates Degree in Paralegal or Legal Assistant Studies OR graduate certificate from an ABA approved paralegal education program
- Experience with docketing
- Experience with patent filings
- Experience with due diligence regarding patent matters
