The Special Business Development group is responsible for business strategy, offer design and process improvement as it pertains to specific strategic opportunities such as organization accounts, often associated with ultra high net worth clients. The group is developing a new service model to support organization accounts. We will work with partners and delivery organizations to ensure smooth execution and robust processes.

This is a new role within this growing team, ! to support acceptance of new complex relationships.

Brief Description of Role:
The candidate will develop a deep understanding of organizational account structures including client needs, regulatory requirements, firm risk tolerance and industry best practices. This person will provide legal and regulatory assessment as clients wish to open a new account for an organization.

Responsibilities include:
Analyze entity governing, formation and trust documents, review audits and other information relating to complex account structures and identify additional documentation required for complete risk analysis
Analyze broad risk of complex accounts within business enterprise and firm
Understand and have the ability to discuss complex accounts with team members and management
Perform research as necessary and appropriate
Prepare written reports/risk assessments and advocate on behalf of the results to internal business partners
Identify conflicts with internal policies and procedures !
Proactively balance workload and review needs with current volume
Escalate questionable findings appropriately and serve as a Legal escalation point for internal team members
Maintain confidentiality of the review process and results

Technical/FunctionalQualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following capabilities:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3-5 years work experience in the financial industry, preferably with a securities firm, trust company or institutional bank, or securities or corporate law department of a law firm.
J.D. preferred and may substitute for experience.
Individual should have experience in one or more of the following fields: Estate Planning (Trusts, Wills, Probate) Retirement Plans, entity formation documents, Compliance, Risk, Audit and/or Control Corporate Law
Strong documentation and organization skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate! effectively orally and in writing to senior management and partners. Ability to identify and escalate risk issues, proactively identify process improvements, delegate projects and tasks, and manage projects involving all staff levels, and outside counsel.
Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment

(Note) This position will not be staffed within Schwab’s Legal Department. While you will be working at times with Schwab’s attorneys, you will not be providing legal advice or counsel for Schwab.
